When Your Body Turns Against You (and How I Found My Way Back)

As August is National Wellness Month, it feels right to share something a little more personal. Maybe you’ll relate. Maybe you’ve been there too.

Three years ago, my world shifted.

I had just recovered from Covid (again) when the pain started. It was relentless—sharp, excruciating, and it became a part of my daily life. Doctor after doctor told me it was something it wasn’t. “It just isn’t showing yet,” they’d say. Meanwhile, I was living in a body that felt like it was betraying me.

As a mom of very active boys—the one who does the driving, the games, the school events, the meals—I couldn’t live like that anymore.

Finally, one doctor ran the right test, and we had an answer: my first autoimmune diagnosis. There was relief in having a name for it, but also devastation—because there was no easy fix. Then came my second diagnosis, this one so severe I couldn’t even drink water without crying. Imagine that. Imagine feeling like you’re swallowing glass every time you take a sip. Losing weight rapidly. Watching the worry on your doctor’s face grow. Watching yourself fade.

That was my life for a while. Trying so hard to live, yet feeling like everything—even my own body—was fighting me.

But I’m stubborn. I found a system that worked. The right medications, the right support, the right changes. I started to regain pieces of myself. I knew more needed to change, but I didn’t know where to start.

That’s when I signed up to become a health and wellness coach.

I didn’t want anyone else to feel as alone, unseen, and powerless as I had felt. Through my training, I learned something huge: health isn’t just about eating right and working out. It’s about all of it—your sleep, stress, relationships, habits, and the way you speak to yourself. If one pillar crumbles, the rest start to slip too.

Today, I follow what I teach. I’ve gained weight back—not the old me, but a healthier me. I’ve found clarity, confidence, and purpose. I still have bad days (and I won’t pretend I don’t). I can’t work out like I used to, but I’ve learned to adapt.

And that’s the thing: wellness isn’t about perfection. It’s about resilience. It’s about choosing to keep showing up, even when it’s hard.

As August celebrates National Wellness Month, I want you to know why I began Finding Harmony Within. This isn’t just a business for me—it’s my heart. It’s my way of saying, you are not alone.

Life isn’t linear. Lately, life has been life-ing hard. But because I’ve changed my lifestyle, leaned on the six pillars, and shifted my mindset, I’ve been able to keep moving forward.

I share this not just to tell my story, but to remind you of yours. You are stronger than you realize. You are amazing—even on the hard days, especially on the hard days.

So, in honor of National Wellness Month, here’s my promise: I will continue to share, to support, and to walk with you on this journey to a better, more balanced you. Because when we show up for ourselves, we discover just how powerful we really are.

Hardships. Great times. The chaos in-between.

We’re in this together. ❤️
